I splurged on this at my local Scheels. They were already sold out online so when I came across it I knew I had to get it. This worked amazing for my NV deer hunt. Temps ranged 12-55 degrees and was everything from snowing sideways to sunny. Those cold mornings we rode 45 mph on the main road for an hour in a SxS with a windshield but no doors to get to our destination before sunrise and it kept me warm enough. It fits snug enough and is thin enough that I was able to wear my baseball hat over it and it was easy to remove and stuff in my jacket pocket when I got too warm while hiking. The only issue I had is that I wear glasses and those would fog up if I pulled it over my nose.
I am a professional photographer and am out in the field a lot and having gear that hold up to the abuse is important. Not only are the built well they are also very comfortable. I have been using all of the Pros line for a while and love everything I have bought.
I love this piece because of how versatile it is - wear it over the head or as a neck gaiter. It's great for keeping the wind out of my face when riding the UTV in colder weather. The ponytail hole in the back is the biggest selling point for me - right where that hole is is where I prefer to pull my hair back and with any other headgear I need to do something different with my hair, and you wouldn't believe how much that one little thing effects my comfort level out in the field. I also have a small head and this fits nice and snug enough to get the job done.
This is an extremely well made, functional and truly an essential add to any female hunter's gear toolbox. The ponytail hole is the back is a game changer! So much more comfortable to wear VS my old balaclava without this option.
The fit is wonderful-fitted without being too tight and allows you to cover everything but your field of vision. The gaiter has room in the mouth area to allow you to breathe comfortably.
It is a nice weight-on super cold days I will probably need a fleece headband around my ears under it (but that's only because I have ears super sensitive to the cold)
I love the fact that the beanie part can pull down for warmer hunts.
I am used to real tree patterns but I think I might like the cumbre Camo better-it seems better suited to hunting multiple, varied habitats.
So glad I splurged on this! It will be getting a lot of use! :)
I could never wear these before, but this fits so snugly and is so well engineered that I can see what I need to focus on. Great wind-break, face-preserver!
