Lightweight and Warm

I got the down mittens for a late season cow elk hunt. The fingerless gloves are nice, even though they were a bit too big for my small hands. It's good to have these in your pack if you are going to be sitting on a hillside glassing. I also got the down beanie, and I have learned that down is a great layer, breathable, and adds warmth to cut the chill out.

Loud

On a positive note these mittens are warm. Not sure how durable they are because I gave up on them after two hunts. If you are trying to still hunt, spot and stalk, or even be quiet in a stand or saddle, I found these mittens squeak really loud every time the fabric material and binoculars or rangefinder come in contact. I have used countless gloves and mittens in extremely cold weather hunting over the years and can't recall a pair that comes close to being this loud. Since none of the other reviewers mention noise with these mittens it could be the weather conditions, a fluke, or not important enough for others to notice. I might try adding a soft adhesive. They would be fine for glassing animals far away. I would also like to mention the excellent and impressive customer service when needing to return or exchange a product.

Callaid Down Mitts kept my hands warm

My Callaid Down Mitts kept my hands warm while on an elk hunt with the hubs this October in New Mexico. I was pleased to use the fold over feature to use my fingers as it got warmer and (sorry for the TMI) because my nose drips in the cold.

Wanted to love

I bought these for elk hunting in Colorado. If I wrote this review after the first two days, I would have said these are SO warm and I love how you can flip the top for shooting. I also love the magnet feature! I’m not joking - I thought I FINALLY found the perfect mitt.

Day 3 the outside layer around the thumb started peeling off - which made it so my hands no longer stayed dry if snow got on my hands :-(

The search for the perfect glove continues.
